30,000 one-foot wooden rulers give concrete form to the almost incomprehensible altitude where the commercial passenger jet pictured high above is flying. Below that image, a backlit photograph on a suspended plane of glass depicts a Pacific Northwest forest as seen from an airplane at 2,000 feet, a common altitude for small aircraft. In pointing to this photo of trees, the 30,000 pieces of wood refer back to their source. The design of the artwork also plays with differing perceptions, offering simultaneous visions of looking up at the image of sky while looking down at the trees, and giving another shift of perspective when it is viewed from the building's mezzanine
